Easter Spring Dress 2017 | Simplicity 8292

Hi Sewfriend!

Today I’m revealing my Easter Dress! I am in love with it!! This pattern and fabric combo is awesome!

Review

Pattern Description: Misses’/Miss Petite dress features three different sleeve options, princess seams, invisible back zipper, lined bodice and your choice of either long flare or pencil cut each in two lengths

Pattern Sizing: 6 to 22. I cut a size 8 for the bodice and graded to a size 12 for the waist and hips.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes it does!

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes it was.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This dress is short on me as a misses pattern. Will adjust on my next version! I did not take the time to measure… I was in a hurry to get this dress done lol!

Fabric Used: Rayon Challis

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not line the dress but I would have done it had I found the appropriate fabric for it. I did a serger rolled hem on sleeves and skirts.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I plan on making another one in a longer length. I do recommend this pattern! So cute for spring and summer!

Conclusion: I love it!

I cannot wait to wear this dress on a warm summer day! I know it will feel comfortable!Which is why I need more versions of this beautiful dress!

Those shoes are my favorite! You can spot them in a couple of my posts! I bought them at Target on a trip to the US last Spring!

I cannot wait to see your beautiful makes! Please use the #easterspringdress2017 so Akram and I can find you on social media! If you used a McCall’s pattern company pattern, don’t forget to tag them! You could win patterns from their latest Spring Collection!

This looks great on you, nice work! I have a question about grading, since I need the same adjustment. Size 8 at bust but 12 at waist and hips. At what point along the side seam do you start grading on the bodice?

Hi! Thank you! I started the grading at the very top of the underbust line on the skirt portion of the dress using a curve ruler. I did not tough to the bodice at all since it has an empire waist. I made sure to be a size 12 at the waist line and below.
